My story

Scroll through her pictures to see her cute video content! Beautiful 7 month old Padma came to us from one of our shelter partners in rural Texas. She and her 6 siblings wound up at a sanctuary there when they were just a few weeks old. Sadly, a good samaritan found the puppies near their mother, who had passed away after being hit by a car. All of these puppies were lovingly raised by caring people and around other animals and it shows-- four of these pups have made their way to Heartland! Two arrived in February and have been adopted, and Padma and her sister arrived in late April. Padma is truly the sweetest soul. She is gentle, reserved, and docile. If you give her a little bit of love she will snuggle up to you and give you dainty little kisses on your chin if you let her! We had the chance to watch her meet an infant and a toddler and she was so sweet to both! She is not a jumpy or wild girl by any means. She will be a great family pet, or companion for any person at any stage of life. Padma has been such a trouper adjusting to this wild 180 degree turn in her life! She is handling everything with grace and a smile. Padma very recently moved into a foster home with a couple and their dog. So far she is "so sweet and curious," if not a bit wary of how new everything is. Her fosters write, "She's apprehensive about new doors being opened or unfamiliar sounds - the TV was like a whole new world! Only one bark at a pet food commercial, and then she's been napping in front of the TV regularly. :)" Padma is slowly adjusting to the crate, and will protest for a bit and then settle. "We're working on name recognition and coming to happy human voices. She seems a little oblivious to positive communication/incentives, but hoping as she gets more comfortable she'll feel good enough to come check us out for treats and pets. She does respond to stern tone/correction when she's chewing on a non-dog-friendly item. She's made her mark on a couple wooden furniture legs, but it's very puppy-like and curious. I'm sure she'll grow out of it with consistent correction and redirection!" We will update her bio as we learn more about her, and as she adjusts to being in a home for the first time! Padma’s adoption fee is $250. She is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
