My story

Meet Smokey – A Brave Little Guy With a Big Heart Smokey is a 5-year-old, 11 lb long-haired Dachshund with soulful eyes, a gentle spirit, and a heart full of love. This sweet boy came into our care a couple of months ago and required immediate surgery for IVDD (intervertebral disc disease). He’s currently in recovery and learning to walk again—taking small, determined steps every day. Smokey is incredibly sweet, loving, and patient, and gets along beautifully with other dogs. He would thrive in a calm, supportive home with someone familiar with IVDD recovery and the care involved. His progress is inspiring, and he’s already showing how resilient and affectionate he truly is.
