My story

Hi there! My name is Lizzy Sue and I'm a nine year old, purebred, shiny black Labrador. I am told I am extremely sweet and very good-looking! My original owners trained me to be a field dog, so I'm quite smart. When they moved out of state about a year ago, I moved in with their friends. Unfortunately their schedules became too much, so they made the decision to find me a better home. While I love my foster family, I'm excited about finding my forever family! I lost my hearing a few years ago, so I had to retire from field work. I know a few basic hand commands and am willing to learn more! I love being able to communicate with you. I'm very attentive and don't wander too far. When we head outside, I will patrol my new yard to make sure we are all good. I may have to do it a few times because that is what I was trained for. Now in retirement, I'm just a typical lab who likes to go for walks, play fetch, romp with other dogs, swim and cuddle on the sofa while you watch TV. I'm pretty sure I'm a lap dog! I have excellent table manners and don't counter surf. I take treats like a gentle little angel. I'm crate trained. I get along with other dogs and I don't mind cats. And I absolutely LOVE people! Did I mention how much I love my people? I will stop whatever I am doing to sit with you while you pet me. I get really quiet and will gently nudge you to remind you I am here. Really my favorite thing is to be near you. We can cuddle on the couch, outside in the sun, on the floor, wherever you are up for, I'll be there. Some might say I'm almost perfect! (I know a few who say I am totally perfect!) If you are looking for a sweet, older girl, please contact your family rep. I still have lots a time to play fetch with you and cuddle up on the couch with you after a long day of adventures. I may not be able to hear, but I'm really great at everything else. If you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lizzy Sue, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
