Hi! My name is Lassie. I am from Minnesota. Meet Lassie, though we’ve been calling him Laddy because it feels more fitting for a male beagle. He is a laid-back dog who rarely barks, even when the doorbell rings, and he doesn’t seem bothered by much. Laddy is a sweet boy who was surrendered along with his brother, a rat terrier mix, after their owner passed away. He is approximately 10 years old, loves going for walks, and is housebroken. We can leave him alone for several hours during the day, and we always find him relaxed, snoozing on the couch or soaking up the sun. We lovingly call him our little house hippo! From the Vet: Lassie (Laddy) has been in rescue for a while and it was ultimately decided that he would have several masses removed. One was a very large mass near his rib cage, and one on his elbow. The large one on his side was completely excised, benign, and removal is considered curative. The elbow mass came back as a grade 1 soft tissue sarcoma. The margins taken indicate that removal went well showing no invasion into the blood cells surrounding the mass. In cases like this recurrence chances are only about 7%. If recurrence does happen within 6 months of adoption, TBB will cover 1 additional mass removal surgery, so his future adopter is encouraged to monitor that closely. Lassie is also scheduled for a dental procedure on 5/8/25 and if he finds his home before that TBB will agree to cover the dental + 1 round of medication and 1 recheck appointment associated with surgery as deemed necessary at the time of surgery. All other primary care after this pet is adopted would be the responsibility of his new forever family. As a precaution, chest x-rays are recommended every 6 months to check for any signs that the cancer spread.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lassie D64072, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
