Sadie

My story

I would like to introduce you to an adorable puppy. Her name is Sadie and she is a 12 1/2 pound, 12 week old “Cattle Dog” breed puppy. She has beautiful white and tan markings with the most striking blue eyes you’ve ever seen. Sadie can be both calm and serene, as well as a highly energetic bundle of fun. I no longer venture to predict the adult size of my foster pups. However, after researching cattle dog breeds, the average size is between 25 and 40 pounds. Sadie seems small for her age, but once again I make no predictions. Sadie has already shown that she is a smart dog and showing some puppy maturity. She understands the command “Crate” and will enter the crate with only a few puppy treat incentives. Once she is in the crate, however she has consistently slept at least seven hours a night without waking me for a potty stop. During the day, I have been taking her out approximately every two hours where she will quickly do her business. I have had only a few accidents in the house, but they have come usually as a result of me not getting her out in that 2 hour window. I am not saying she is completely potty trained, but I think this will be pretty quickly. We have also been working on her leash and harness skills. This is a work in progress. I have been taking her out at least once a day for a short neighborhood walk. She at this stage of her life is more interested in the sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors, that walking calmly by my side is not yet in her nature. Sadie also responds to the commands “Sit” and “Stay”. Pretty basic at this point but with a little work, she will have them down pretty quickly. As I said, she is a pretty smart dog. Sadie is a sweet playful pup who is content to play on her own or spend time cuddling with me on the couch. Sadie is ready to make some very lucky family the greatest canine companion.
