My story

The application is the first step in the adoption process, so if you are interested in adopting please fill out the online adoption application  first by visiting our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    Max is a 4 year old black and tan Mini Dachshund. Max came to the rescue when he was paralyzed. Max has since completed therapy and is now walking and ready to find his new home. We got Max on the day he was injured, and we know how he was injured, so we were able to treat him immediately and effectively. He was up and walking in two weeks. Max was a great patient.  Max weighs 11 pounds, so perfect mini size. He uses the doggie ramp and does not jump. Max loves people and wants to snuggle right next to you. He will sleep in a doggie bed next to your bed at night. He uses a doggie door. Max is fond of his voice, so an apartment or condo may not be ideal for him. Max came from an overcrowded home, so he is looking for a home with less noise. Sorry no kids for Max. Max would like a home that knows about Dachshund back injuries or that uses ramps/stairs, and that has no house stairs in the home. Max walks with a little sway to his step, and runs like he has enjoyed a couple drinks too many, but that doesn’t stop him from playing chase with the puppies in his foster home. Max loves to play with non-dominant dogs his size. He gets nervous if he gets bossed around. He would love a home that wants a snuggle buddy with just him, but he would be just fine with other dogs his size. He’s really not picky. Max is looking for a family that wants to show him unconditional love for the rest of his life!!  Max's adoption fee: $350  We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found.Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. We ask the entire family to be there that day. If we all agree on the placement, then the dog will stay with you that day.  Please visit our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    May 12, 2025, 10:52 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Max, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
