**Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form** Katia is available for Foster to Adopt! We'd love to welcome Katia into the Fetch + Releash family on May 15th. In order to secure a spot on the flight, she needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take her home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Katia / Female / 3 years old / 37 lbs / Mixed Breed / From Mexico Meet Katia - she was part of a trap/spay/release program, but her rescuer knew she couldn’t go back to the street. Those eyes! That soul! She was too gentle for life on the street. Katia’s ideal family will put her needs above their own and give in to her every demand. Although, she is super easy and really requires nothing more than love – and sleeping in a human bed. And maybe room service – omelet, extra cheese, hold the onions. She is a doll. Katia is low energy (no, really - her rescuer describes her as a sloth with occasional zoomies) and will need two walks daily as well as some canine enrichment. Having never had a home, her new family should be prepared to support her with potty training, leash walking, and general manners. Katia was briefly tested with cats and showed little interest. While she hasn't been tested with children, based on her gentle nature, we believe she would do well with respectful, dog-savvy children. Her family should be prepared to supervise all interactions to ensure everyone's safety. While she would do well as a solo pup, we think she'd make an excellent second (or third) doggie as well. Prior to coming into care, Katia tested positive for Ehrlichia, which is a tick-borne infection and is not contagious. She is receiving treatment and a CBC test will be done to confirm that there is no active infection. It is recommended that Ehrlichia positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor and that pre-op blood work include a CBC test and platelet count be performed before any surgeries or dental extractions. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Katia's adoption fee is $850. To learn more about our adoption fees and the foster-to-adopt process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Katia (Foster-to-Adopt), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
