My story

What’s pocket- sized, perfectly sweet, and full of bouncy energy? It’s Dutchess! And while we aren’t sure she actually has any royal lineage, she sure deserves to be treated like a princess in her future home!! Dutchess spent two weeks in a foster home- here’s what we learned:- She is housetrained- She is smart and a quick learner, and knows commands like “no”, “come”, “leave it”, “stay”, “paw”, “go lie down”, and “look”- She automatically sits to have her leash taken on and off- She is well behaved when left home alone - She is very sweet and loves pets- She loves to play fetch, loves puzzle toys, and enjoys tug o’ war- She has a medium energy level overall- She is clever and eager to please - She is working hard on her leash manners “Dutchess is extremely polite and well-mannered in the house. She really likes meeting new people who have come to the house and getting pets and will lean into those pets and zone out. She really seems to enjoy being around people and trying to do what they are asking her. She responds well to commands and training with or without treats. She is an angel when left alone and just sleeps. If she wants to party but we want to sit, she quickly gets the vibe and will go lay down. A very cute behavior is that she will gently put her paw on you when she wants more pets or gently put her head on your leg and gaze up at you. She also loves to sprawl on the rug in her `superman` pose and stretch out while making a cute face. She really has such a willingness to learn and listen. She is so eager to learn and to please. Inside the house she is such a little dream and she really is trying so hard.”Here’s what one volunteer at the shelter said about her:“Dutchess was very well behaved when I took her for a walk yesterday. It was easy to leash her and she walked very well. We went into the desert, where she enjoyed checking out any interesting smells. She tooktreats gently from my hand and was comfortable with me petting her. Good girl!”One staff member described Dutchess as a “super sweet, super friendly pup!” and that’s her exactly! Dutchess would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit; when meeting other dogs in playgroup she was rowdy at first but settled in and became more easygoing over time. She also loves splashing in the doggy pool! Dutchess was found as a stray,

If you have any questions or would like to adopt DUTCHESS, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
