Schatzi von Schwerin is a beautiful 11-12 week old German Shepherd mix puppy. Per her foster mom: Schatzi is an adorable little puppy. She enjoys cuddling, she loves belly rubs, belly taps, anything involved with the belly. She is pee pad trained, doing her 'business on the pads. I’m sure she’d learn quickly if she had a yard so she could go outside on her own. (she is fostered in an apartment). Schatzie has been fine with the cats in her foster home. They’re doing this little back and forth game where they follow each other, and if the cats hiss at her, she will back away. She tries to initiate play, but they are still a bit iffy about Schatzie. She loves playing with toys and she is even learning to play fetch. She’s working on walking nicely on leash, (indoors for now until she is fully vaccinated) and the 'sit' command. Although she usually sleeps through the night, every once in a while she wakes up at 2am ready to play. She has been an obedient puppy who takes corrections well. We adore her. Found by Good Sam. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Schatzi von Schwerin YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Schatzi von Schwerin, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
