My story

Meet East!! We are welcoming East back into the rescue and hoping to find him the right home. He was taken back from his adopter when they would not take him to his neuter appointment as contracted. We are glad we have him back as he was not in the greatest shape when he returned. šŸ˜ž He originally came to us with his brothers (North, South and West) Who have all been adopted and are doing very well. You can look for the ā€œCompass Litterā€ on our page to see lots of baby pics and sibling photos. East is a 4 1/2 month old Australian shep mix (best guess). He is currently weighs 22 pounds and should be medium size when full grown. He has been given several sets of vaccines, dewormed, a microchip and neutered already. He is on monthly preventatives. East came back to us smelling strongly or urine and appearing to not have had any training or socializing while he was away. We are working on helping him learn but he is a bit behind where he should be for his age. This is not due to him not being smart enough, he just wasn’t shown the things he needed to be successful. He likes other dogs but is still a bit nervous around them at first. He is learning to socialize more each day but will still growl if they come up into his face. He wasn’t with other dogs so this is just new to him. He was playing tug-o-war with another dog yesterday so he is definitely starting to relax and be more comfortable with them. He is a vocal little guy when he’s playing. He has never been around cats so we aren’t sure how he would do. He was in a famliy with kids and did really well with them. East is not fully potty trained. When he arrived he appeared to think he needs to just go in his crate instead of waiting. By the way he smelled when he was picked up he may not have been given the opportunity to go out as much as he needed to learn. He has been making steady progress and having far less accidents each day. He is a smart boy when given the right guidance. He is quiet in his crate and does well with crating. He is also good with walking on a leash. He does very well on car rides. This guy is going to be a really fun puppy for his family. He enjoys walks, sqeaky toys, sticks and playing chase. He is extremely sweet and wants nothing more than to get your love and attention. He is a big love bug for sure. He has not had any issues so far with sharing food, treats or toys with other dogs or humans. He really just wants to be included and given attention. This breed is known for being extremely smart and also very active. He will need his family to put the effort into his mental and physical exercise. He has so much potential in the right home. Without exercise puppies can become pent up and display negative behaviors and struggle with training. If you are willing to give him some time and effort he is going to be an amazing and loyal dog for your family. East has a very sweet and loving personality. He is adorable and will make you a wonderful new best friend. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ā€¼ļøPlease message VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application. For more photos and faster response message our Facebook page.ā€¼ļø

If you have any questions or would like to adopt East, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
