My story

Possum Pie is now 4 months old and still looking for his forever home. Possum Pie truly means so much to us because we weren’t sure if he would make it to this day. The Pie litter started out at 8 puppies, we had one failure to thrive and then 5 puppies pass away from a horrible case of CHV. This is a virus that they can catch from mom and when you’re under 3-4 weeks old and cannot regulate your own body temperature it can be fatal. We did it all including tube feeding, bottle feeding, medication administration and temp checks every 2 hours. They also spent their time in an incubator. We are so sad for the babies we lost but we are so thankful to have our two who are growing everyday. His sister has found her forever home and we are hopeful that Possum's time is coming. - He has been working on crate training and doing well and mostly sleeps through the night which is impressive for our little guy! He is working on staying more neutral - He is doing well with potty training on a consistent schedule. - As a puppy he will need patience and training to ensure that he is the best that he can be. His foster is already working on basic commands and remaining neutral in public and though this kind of training is never ending for a successful pup he is a people pleaser! - He plays with other dogs of all sizes and ages! He does get super excited when meeting dogs and is eager to have friends so this is where we are helping with remaining neutral to ensure that he doesn't come on too strong. - He LOVES children and looks forward to waking up his foster family children every day with lots of love! If you are interested in being considered a forever home please apply directly. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org. The adoption fee includes age appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter, deworming, first month of preventatives and microchip. Possum Pie is located in Chicago and is adoptable within 3 hours of Chicago.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Possum Pie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
