My story

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereBuck is a big, cuddly, affectionate puppy who is equally happy to romp in the yard or just sleep at your feet (or on your lap). He already knows basic commands like "sit" and "paw" (both paws!) and we're working on "down." He redirects easily, quickly picks up directions, and is treat motivated, but he wants the good stuff—not just kibble. He's doing well with house training and learning to go potty in only certain parts of the yard. He has some puppy tendencies of jumping and a bit of mouthiness and will chew on things he shouldn't if given the chance, but he is easily redirected. He was initially hesitant towards the resident German Shepherd but warmed up to her with slow introduction, treats, and positive reinforcement. After the first day, they became best buds and now keep each other entertained for long stretches of time before they both need a nap. He has bursts of energy but is mostly content to relax and hang out with his people. He's been sweet and comfortable with the 6-year-old and 3.5-year-old kids in the house. He sleeps through the night in a crate and waits until morning to go pee. Buck will likely be a big dog (he looks similar to St. Bernard/German Shepherd mix photos online), so potential adopters should keep that in mind.
