My story

Meet Talon! This sweet boy was e-listed for fear—he was very scared, shut down, and trying to escape in the shelter environment. Even being scared, he walked calmly on leash for our evaluator and leaned in for affection. Since entering foster care, he’s truly come out of his shell and blossomed into a loving, affectionate pup who just needed a little patience and kindness. Talon took a few days to warm up in his foster home, especially around the males, but once he feels safe, you are his new best friend. He gives out hugs and kisses like it’s his job and will happily curl up in your lap for snuggles. He’s still learning a few manners, like not jumping up on people when he’s excited, but he responds well to correction and redirection and wants to please. He can be a little possessive of his plush toys around other dogs (mild resource guarding), but his foster humans are able to step in without issue. He spends nights in his crate without protest — he heads right in when you tell him it’s bedtime! He’s also been well behaved when left home and not crated. He even picked up the doggy door within a week! He walks well on leash, loves snacks, and is happiest when he’s by your side or in your arms. He’s a true lovebug. This boy will thrive in a variety of home environments — whether it’s a young active household, an older home looking for companionship, or a family with kids of any age. He’s playful with other dogs of all sizes but he hasn’t been introduced to cats yet. He would love a home with another friendly dog to help boost his confidence. Talon loves his people and wants to be wherever you are—on the couch, on a walk, or just hanging out nearby. He’ll need continued socialization in public and new environments, but is very comfortable in his home.
