Ah yes, meet Eloise—the delicate flower of Pyr Paws N Fluffy Tails Rescue. Eloise, aka Ellie, is what happens when you mix a sensitive soul with a spotlight-loving goofball who thinks “personal space” is just a myth. She’s sweet, she’s strange, and she’s basically the dog equivalent of someone who’d wear socks with sandals and absolutely own it. This delightful enigma of fluff is trying her absolute best to figure out this whole “dog” thing. While Eloise is technically the “extrovert” of her trio (we’re looking at you, Daffy and Revan), don’t be fooled—she’s still very much in the “fake it ‘til you make it” phase of doghood. She's got the social spark, but also the attention span of a daydreaming goldfish. Eloise is an 11-month-old female Bernese Mountain Dog who came to us alongside her equally confused roommates, Daffy and Revan, after their previous owner was unable to place them. Eloise gets along fabulously with other dogs—as in, she’ll do the polite “hello,” maybe exchange a sniff or two, and then immediately go back to her regularly scheduled existential crisis in the corner. She’s been a total lady around cats too, which is impressive considering they clearly outrank her in both confidence and worldliness. Kids? Yeah… no data there. But considering Eloise is still trying to figure out how to exist without melting into a puddle when someone makes direct eye contact, we’re gonna say she probably isn’t cut out for the chaos of tiny, sticky, screaming humans just yet. Maybe in a future season of her emotional growth journey, but for now she’s more “gentle introvert seeking peaceful vibes” than “playroom gladiator.” When meeting new people, Eloise is a bit like your socially awkward friend at a party—hovering near the snack table, unsure if she should make eye contact or just disappear into the drywall. It takes some gentle coaxing (and maybe a few bribes) to get her to come say hello, but once you’ve earned her trust—which took her foster mom about a week—she’ll tentatively upgrade you from “stranger danger” to “acceptable human.” She’s not going to fling herself into your lap upon first meeting, but give her time, space, and a judgment-free zone, and you’ll start to see that wiggly, goofy side emerge from her shell. Eloise’s energy level falls somewhere between a mildly caffeinated sloth and a house cat that occasionally gets the zoomies when they think no one is watching—she’s got playful moments, sure, but she’s mostly vibing in her own gentle, slightly confused orbit. Her one ride in the car so far? Less “wind-in-my-fur adventure” and more “statue mode activated.” She was so scared she didn’t move a muscle. And leashes? Oh, those are clearly instruments of betrayal. Right now, Eloise is what we’d lovingly call a homebody—her idea of excitement is rearranging the toy box or deciding whether she’ll nap in this sunbeam or the one five feet to the left. Temperament-wise, she’s the perfect blend of sensitive soul and quirky attention-loving goofball. She wants to be loved, she just needs a little help learning that the world isn’t out to get her. Tell her "no" and she’ll probably write about it in her diary, but then come wiggle up to you later just to be sure you still love her. As for her hobbies, Eloise is a dedicated toy connoisseur. She doesn’t just pick one—she excavates the entire toy box like she’s mining for emotional support squeakers. She’ll proudly parade them around, one by one, until her bed looks like a stuffed animal yard sale. Eloise would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can embrace her routine and avoid scary, unpredictable things like... sidewalk chalk and rogue plastic bags. Apartment life or leash walks through the neighborhood jungle? Let’s just say she’d prefer a more private estate vibe until she builds her confidence. Eloise is still working on the whole “potty goes outside” concept. To be fair, she spent her early days living outdoors, so the idea of a designated bathroom spot that isn’t literally “wherever you happen to be standing” is a brand-new and slightly confusing revelation. She's making progress, but if you're someone who expects a dog to come pre-installed with an instruction manual and a fully loaded housetraining package—Eloise is probably not your girl. She’s for the people who understand that learning takes time and patience. Eloise is not kennel trained. Given her past life as an outdoor dog, confinement of any kind feels pretty weird to her. Eloise’s barking style? Let’s just say she’s currently in her silent film era. So far, she hasn’t really barked—at anything. Potential adopters, take note: Eloise isn’t your plug-and-play pup. She’s more of a build-your-own-bond project—think IKEA furniture, but fluffier and with more emotional baggage. Her adopter will need a Costco-sized supply of patience, a sense of humor, and an understanding that she is learning everything for the first time at almost a year old. She’s not broken—just behind on her socialization syllabus. If you're looking for a dog to parade through crowded parks and dog-friendly patios on day one, she’s not it. But if you’re someone who finds joy in small wins, like the first time she doesn’t flinch when you reach to pet her, or the moment she picks you as her safe person—then buckle up, because Eloise is going to be one heck of a rewarding journey. So, if you’ve got a soft spot for emotionally complex teddy bears with commitment issues, Eloise just might be your soulmate. Fill out that adoption app at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can forward it to her foster family and begin the sacred matchmaking ritual. Just a heads up—you will need to make the pilgrimage to Kiowa, OK to pick her up. No, she won't deliver! She’s a dog, not Amazon Prime.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Eloise, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
