My story

Gentle, loving, sweet, brave, silly, are just a few ways to describe Little Bird. Emphasis on gentle. Everything about him is gentle. From the way he asks for affection, to taking treats, walking on a leash, playing with other dogs, laying on your lap for snuggles - Little bird is a gentle prince. Watch his video and fall in love with this gentle boy: https://youtu.be/wwFUk_ZL59E?si=sbP8lt4Xc9AwQ-Qi Little bird is a pittie lab mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 38 lbs. He is the perfect size, not too big and not too small. So don't let his pictures fool you, he's on the petite side, his longer legs just make him look bigger than he actually is. Little Bird can be a little shy at first in new places and when meeting new people for the first time but it doesn't take him long to open up especially if he is around someone he already knows. He'll be leaning into you for affection, sneaking in kisses, and trying to sit in your lap in no time. Little Bird is very dog friendly! So much so that he is even used as an assessment dog from time to time. He is great at matching other dog's energies, knows how to encourage the shy dogs to play, is respectful with other dogs that don't want to play, and doesn't engage in play that he's not comfortable with - he'll just go do his own thing. He has this gentle and dainty play style about that reminds you of quite literally a baby bird, yet another reason why we named him that! It's just so relevant and fitting for him. When he plays, he's very mindful about the way he plays always making sure it's reciprocated and a type of play that he enjoys. He loves to be goofy, bouncing around, playing chase, and occasionally will participate in those rumble and tumble wrestling matches but as long as they aren't too rough. He's a gentle boy. Little bird loves to be around other dogs and opens up the most when he is around other dogs. We would love for him to go to a home with another dog or even two because he really is his happiest and true self around other dogs. The confidence in other dogs really rubs off on him and he becomes the bravest "little bird" around other dogs. He has also been around our house cat biggie and did great with him! Little Bird is a smart cookie too! He is treat motivated and takes treats so gently! Again, another thing that he does gently and definitely one the ways to his heart. He knows how to sit and will sit the second you ask him too and walks easy on a leash. He would love to go on leisurely walks with you around the neighborhood or even the park and soak in everything around him. He is crate trained and potty trained as well. His quiet demeanor also makes him a great work from home buddy. He has great house manners and isn't the type of dog that is going to be getting into things he shouldn't be while you're working. He'll simply just hangout and keep you company while you answer emails or take important phone calls. His perfect home would be in a residential neighborhood with a backyard, rather than in the heart of a city with all the hustle and bustle city life brings. He loves to be outside and loves hanging out in the yards. Little Bird is also a great companion if you want to take him to dog-friendly patio restaurants. He went to an event at a pickle ball place where there is a lot of outdoor seating, crowds, and other dogs there. At first, he was curious and a little unsure about all of the commotion and just being in a new environment that he's never been in before. But like the brave Little bird that he is and with the help and comfort from the other dogs that were there, he quickly realized it was a fun place to be and he was taking treats and just watching all the things going on around him. Little bird is just a sweet wittle baby that has so much to learn about the big big world. He will need a home with lots of patience and love to offer him while he settles and acclimates to your home. Little Bird can handle the hustle and bustle of a household after getting to know everyone. He never adds to that fun energy though, he is quiet and he just watches. If you like people watching, so does Little Bird. Haha, that is the best way to describe how he acts when he goes to a new environment. Little Bird is simply careful and thoughtful in new environments. You’ll see him taking little baby steps into new rooms getting his bearings, roaming, exploring and observing everything around him. Before you know it, he has his favorite spots, knows his routine, and has his favorite dog and/or human. We are willing to test Little Bird with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match for you. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $825 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time. https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
