My story

ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/14310Name: WinnieGender: FemaleBreed: Great Dane (Mixed)Age: 6 years (possibly younger)Weight: 116 lbsCurrent Location: Street, MDMEET WINNIE – THE GENTLE GIANTWinnie is a loving, playful, and affectionate Great Dane mix looking for her forever family! She’s already won over her foster family with her sweet personality and calm demeanor. At around 90 lbs, Winnie is a big girl with an even bigger heart. Her paperwork says she’s 6, but her playful energy suggests she may be a bit younger.PERSONALITY- Winnie is a certified lovebug. Her favorite activities include lounging near her people, soaking up attention, and gently following kids and adults around to be part of the fun.- Affectionate and people-oriented- Playful but gentle- Calm in the house- Follows kids around with curiosity- Enjoys relaxing close to her humans- She’s also shown herself to be a well-mannered house guest who picks up routines quickly and responds well to gentle correction.TRAINING & BEHAVIORWinnie has a great foundation and is continuing to polish her manners in foster care.- House trained and lets you know when she needs to go out- Crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night- Working on leash manners – responds well to a front-clip harness and gentle guidance- Occasionally does a happy Dane-style bounce and mouthy play, but is easily redirected- Knows how to settle and enjoys quiet timeGOOD WITH...- Dogs: Yes, she’s been great with other dogs in the home- Cats: Has been around cats and could be fine with slow introductions- Kids: Yes! She’s gentle and enjoys their companyIDEAL HOMEWinnie would thrive in a calm but engaging home where she can be close to her people and continue her gentle play and learning. She’s the perfect size for cuddling, and her easygoing personality makes her a great fit for a variety of homes.- A family or individual who wants a devoted companion- A home with kids, other dogs, or even cats (with intros)- Fenced yard a bonus, but not required- Someone who appreciates a calm, loyal friend with a playful streakINCLUDED VETERINARY CARE- Vaccinations: Up to date- Spayed- Microchipped- Heartworm Preventative- Flea and Tick Preventative- Worm/Parasite TreatmentsIf you’re looking for a loyal, gentle, and affectionate big dog who just wants to be part of your life, Winnie might be your perfect match. She's ready to love and be loved — could you be her forever family? This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read more about heartworm disease here here

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Winnie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
