My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I need a home without cats or small animals.Not only do I pull at heart strings, but I also pull on leash! I will need someone to help me with my leash manners.I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some canine body language together!A volunteer writes: We have a little brown bear that really deserves a line of people waiting to meet her. Her name is Shelly and she is the ultimate fuzzy wuzzy girl. Shelly originally had come in due to her owner becoming homeless. She is about 2 years old. In her home, Shelly had been tolerant with strangers, playful and outgoing with other dogs. She had been completely housetrained. They said she can be a lazy couch potato, but also is active and playful at times. She enjoyed bathes and brushing and knows a bunch of cues already! She is described as a lovabale goof, which is the perfect description for any dog in our opinion. My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Shelly went on a Borough Break this past weekend, and she was absolutely amazing. She was so well-behaved and easy to be around. At the park, she settled right in, stretched out to relax, and enjoyed the day. She was the perfect lunch companion too-calmly sitting under the table with her treat and water, patiently waiting until we were finished. On the car ride, she curled up and snoozed, clearly loving the ride and staying relaxed the whole way. Shelly is such a sweet and friendly dog. I would love to take her out on another break, but even more, I hope she finds her forever family soon. All she needs is love, exercise, and patience-and she'll give back so much in return.
