My story

Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around WA & OR, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal due to their fees they charge the rescue but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. The oh so beautiful inside & out Jack, whose picture screamed the disgusting neglect he was in, in a death camp of a scary shelter in CA. He looked absolutely defeated & plain frightened to death. He was posted online on social media begging for his life to be saved. The shelter said he was frightened & aggressive & per his listing he had lost over 15 lbs in roughly 12 days in the shelter. No one was coming to save him & he was scheduled to be euthanized for being “frightened & aggressive”. In all the years of rescuing dogs we have never known a doodle to be aggressive. We finally were able to get Jack out with a lot of back & forth with the shelter & once we did it was determined immediately that Jack was the biggest sweetheart ever. We did determine though that someone had been cruel to him. He stunk, he was so extremely famished & was matted badly. His foster mum took him to get a bath & clean him up & once they got home he still smelled so very foul. It was quickly discovered that from the inside out of his cheek it was ripped open all the way through & he was oozing green puss & was in tremendous pain. The side of his cheek was slashed all the way through on one side. He was rushed to our vets & it was determined that he needed an emergency surgery as his flesh was rotted & the infection was so severe that he could not go on this way. The problem was too that he needed antibiotics straight away to fight an infection & pain meds on board. The only way this could of happened & missed in the shelter is that a catch pole was being put on him & he grabbed it with his mouth & slashed his mouth & cheek open & their lyes where the fear & so called aggression comes from because he was suffering & rotting away & starving at the same time. We got him his surgery which was way worse when our vet when in & had to remove the rotten decayed flesh & puss. He also had x-rays, a drain put into the side of his face & the side of his mouth & cheek were full of stitches. This horrible situation instantly cost us $2000 to start off Jacks medical & care. Yes, it appears at the age of 1 he was going to die which is absolutely unacceptable & disgusting. We rescued this beautiful little lad & thank goodness we did. Without his outstanding foster mum, this would not of happened for Jack. Jack is now looking for his very own forever home & who will never give up on him again & dump him & love him just as his foster mum in CA & his foster mum in WA here does too along with us. After we rescued Jack, he was bought back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find him his loving forever home. We hired a wonderful private transporter so Jack could have one on one time with a married couple who are absolutely obsessed with animals. Along his journey here he got to be apart of the sites & experience them. The absolute insanity to think this baby doll ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA is soul destroying. Jack just wants to be loved. Disturbing to think no one wanted him & he was ready to die. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. When we first rescued him, he ate multiple bowls of food as if he is making up for lost time. In his foster home he eats clean. Fruits, vegetables, grains, raw meat & other proteins along with supplements. He also adores a good treat. Jack is a very soft gentle soul, he is so easy his foster mum said considering what he has endured. His foster mum said Jack is a very sweet dog & loves his humans once he knows them. You have to build trust with Jack especially after the cruelty he injured. This boy will look at you with so much gratitude & admiration. He is so regal while sitting watching you. He also loves to be with his buddies & just lay with them or do whatever they are doing. She said he is really such a good & smart boy. He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & enjoys being cuddled & given love. He also enjoys snuggling up on the couch & will jump on the couch & spend his day relaxing. He enjoys sleeping on the couch & sleeping in bed with you at night. His foster mum still cannot believe someone would be so cruel & neglectful to Jack. Jack’s new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard. He enjoys going out into the backyard in his foster home & having a wander around & loves to run & play & chase a ball. Jack has been great with his baths because he started having them with us in his loving foster homes the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will just let you dry him. He loves his foster mum & dad & his foster friends. He gets so excited when he sees his foster dad & waits for him. He will stand up & hug him. He has put on a good amount of weight since being in his loving foster home & was so thin when first rescued. Jack rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. Jack is a wonderful walker on his harness & leash & loves going on many walks. He does pull a bit though & is very strong so that had to be kept in mind. We are looking for a forever home for Jack where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. We cannot stress this enough that due to the trauma he experienced at the shelter he must not be put into a crate. He did not want to go into a crate when he was neutered by our amazing vets. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. Jack is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Jack has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. He absolutely needs another dog in his forever home for him to thrive. If a dog is acting out he will correct them. He plays with all sizes. Jack is roughly 1 year old & 78 lbs, he is male, & a labradoodle & neutered by our amazing vet. He had the major emergency surgery on his mouth that now you would never ever know it happened for the cost of $2000 alone. He arrived so extremely thin & had put on weight in his loving foster home, roughly 15 lbs so far. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. Once these shots expire we do not redo them only rabies as we do not over vaccinate our beloved dogs. Jack has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children in the rescue so we do not recommend children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Jack was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Jack’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Jack potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Jack has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Jack & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Jack who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Jack has an adoption fee of $1255 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jack, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
