My story

Please welcome Caspian. As his namesake from the Chronicles of Narnia, he embodies noble, handsome, and merry qualities, but requires time to flourish. He is seeking a home with a compassionate leader/guide to be his Aslan and at least one other canine to be his rockstar and bestie. He is embarking on a journey to discover a home that is his haven after living a life as a breeder. Caspian came to DREAM from a breeder who surrendered 22 dachshunds to a rural shelter. He is a gorgeous red longhair with sprinkles of white on his chest and face. The vet aged hiim at 3-5 years so those aren’t gray roots but highlights! He’s shy at first with people but warms up if you use high value treats, get on his level to earn his trust. Once he know you he will ask for belly rubs. Caspian is a prince who needs other canine friends to help him find his true, brave self. So a home with another dog is a must. This boy absolutely relishes running around the yard exploring every nook and sniffing under rocks chasing bugs and chipmunks-fence is needed to assure he gets his adventures in each day. He sleeps in bed with his foster sister and is an expert cuddle partner with all his canine friends. He is doing well house training -about 80%-and wears a belly band with pride. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Caspian will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
