My story

Kuma is a true original — a dignified, gentle soul wrapped in a big, fluffy Akita coat. At 7–8 years old, Kuma is in his golden years, and he’s more interested in sharing quiet moments than chasing tennis balls. He’s also surprisingly cat-like: he’ll rub against your legs, lean in for affection, and silently appear at your side when you least expect it. His calm presence brings a special kind of peace to your home. This 72-pound sweetheart has a surprisingly cat-like personality. He’ll rub against your legs for affection, quietly appear at your side, and follow you from room to room with calm devotion. He doesn’t need constant activity — just a peaceful space, a bit of structure, and someone who appreciates his quiet loyalty. Kuma would do best with someone experienced with Akitas or similar breeds who understands his independent streak and respectful boundaries. He’s easygoing, low-maintenance, and full of quiet charm. If you're looking for a companion to share slow mornings, peaceful afternoons, and sunny spots, Kuma is ready to be your shadow. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only.
