My story

🐾 Meet Simba! 🐾Owner Surrender (limited time in previous home)Simba is a 9-month-old big puppy with a bold spirit and an even bigger heart. He came to ACC after a series of housing instability and transitions - passed between homes, with no real chance to settle down or learn the basics. Despite his rocky start, Simba's shown that he's curious, playful, and eager to connect with people once he feels safe.🏡 My Ideal HomeSimba is looking for an experienced, adult-only home where he can decompress and start fresh. He'll need structure, patience, and consistency - ideally with someone who understands adolescent dogs and is committed to helping him learn boundaries using only positive reinforcement. Simba will thrive in a calm environment with plenty of daily exercise and enrichment to channel his energy into healthy outlets.👶 Good with Kids?Simba should be placed in a home with no children under 13. He can get overstimulated and mouthy when excited, and would do best with adults who can recognize and manage his arousal cues.🐕 Good with Other Dogs?Simba has shown neutral to playful behavior around other dogs at the shelter. With careful introductions, he may enjoy having a canine companion - though slow and structured meet-and-greets will be key.🦮 Leash MannersSimba pulls moderately on leash and sometimes zigzags or lunges toward small animals or people he finds interesting. He's easily redirected with treats but needs practice and patience to become a great walking buddy.🩺 Overall HealthSimba is in good health and recently neutered. He received all core vaccines, parasite prevention, and is microchipped. He was treated for a minor paw abrasion and had one instance of patella luxation noted - currently not affecting his mobility.📊 Behavior Determination: Level 3Simba is a high-energy adolescent with a mix of behaviors to work on: anxiety, poor impulse control, and social hyperarousal. He's shown some fear-based reactions in high-stress situations but responds well to gentle handling and positive experiences. With proper guidance, he can absolutely blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion.🎉 One Fun FactGive Simba a squeaky toy and watch him zoom around with it like he's starring in his own action movie. He might even invite you to join in the fun - his energy is contagious!💸 Adoption Fee: $75Includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, and behavior support from our team.If you're ready to help a smart, spirited underdog shine, Simba might be your perfect match. Meet him today at Staten Island ACC! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 42 Age: 0yrs 10mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Simba, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
