Roxy is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match! Scroll through her pictures to see her cute video content! Beautiful 7 month old Roxy came to us from one of our shelter partners in rural Texas. She and her 6 siblings wound up at a sanctuary there when they were just a few weeks old. Sadly, a good samaritan found the puppies near their mother, who had passed away after being hit by a car. All of these puppies were lovingly raised by caring people and around other animals, and it shows! So far, four of these pups have made their way to Heartland: Two arrived in February and have been adopted, and Roxy and her sister Padma arrived in late April. Roxy has been living in a foster home with a family with a 10 month old and 3 year old, and another dog. Her personality has always been shy and sweet, but every day she comes out of her shell a bit more! Like many of our "country" dogs who find themselves in homes, Roxy was confused by such things as stairs at first. After a couple of days, she mastered them! She loves the young children in the home, but was initially a little scared when they were loud or had tantrums. Now Roxy realizes it is no big deal- and either way she is always happy to cuddle up with them and give them kisses! Roxy is doing pretty well on housebreaking, but she still has accidents occasionally. She had not been raised to go potty while on a leash so she still prefers to do her business off leash in the enclosed yard. Roxy does very well in the crate. She is crated overnight in a bedroom so she is not alone, but cannot get into anything! She has been left in the crate for up to 4 hours and did well! Roxy's foster mom writes, "Roxy is a sweet docile angel girl. All she wants is love and cuddles from any person or dog. She used to be afraid of walking up the stairs but now goes up and down like it’s no problem. Her personality has really started to show as she’s becoming more playful and energetic, but then soon after is ready to lay down and snuggle up in your lap or a cozy spot. She loves being outside and laying in the grass. She absolutely loves kids and will give soft kisses to let them know how sweet she is." Please inquire about this darling girl today! Roxy’s adoption fee is $250. She is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Roxy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
