My story

Meet Sweet Girl Charli: If you are searching for a well-trained, smart and obedient companion who loves playing fetch, then Charli will bounce right into your home. Charli is a 2-year-old red heeler / boxer mix and weighs 48 pounds. Her brother Jack is also up for adoption. Her stunning beautiful eyes with almost makeup perfection eyeliner will take your breath away. Charli enjoys lots of physical and mental activity. She loves a good squeaky ball and has a playful vertical jump that will knock your socks off, or easily catch flying Frisbees or high fly balls. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not only athletic, she is one smart cookie and will pick up new tricks in a flash. Last year she completed a 5-week e-collar dog camp training and is also very treat/food motivated. In addition to being e-collar trained, she is also house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and past the puppy chewing phase. Charli was rescued when she was 3 months old along with her littermate. For the last two years, Charli has lived with her adoptive family with school age kids, her sibling littermate, and another older, high energy, small dog. Charli is patient with kids and her energetic play is easily directed to a calmer play with commands. Charli is an indoor dog who loves walks and outdoor play. Her downtime is split between rests by herself on a soft doggie bed or cuddle time with her people on the couch or laying on the floor by your feet. Charli is microchipped, spayed and up-to date on her vaccines. Her microchip also monitors her body temperature which makes temp checks at vet visits a breeze. She is very healthy, however, from a very early age, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s battled year-round environmental allergies, donâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t we all? These allergies often manifest in skin flare ups. However, after extensive allergy testing, her allergies are now managed and easily kept under control with the help of her vet allergist and allergy shots/medications that are administered at home. Charli seems to be more nervous and anxious with new comers in the house. She responds to positive training and e-collar cues and she will warm up quickly with slower introductions to new people. Charli is good with older children (elementary to middle school), older adults, and other dogs. Charli is good with older children (elementary to middle school), older adults, and other dogs. We havenâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t had a chance to see Charliâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s interactions with small children, however, she is very gentle with elderly grandparents but might require a few reminders to play less energetically around them. Charli loves her walks, outdoor zoomies, jumping for treats/toys, and squeaky balls. She would do best with a big yard, a companion who is home much of the time, and someone she can wind down with at the end of the night. Charli is very loving and will cuddle close to her loved ones. She is happiest being around her people and enjoying lots of evening cuddles and belly rubs on the couch. Charli does get along with her sibling brother, however, the pair together commonly rile each other up, especially when company comes over. Charli would be more obedient and less mischievous without her littermate in either a single dog household or a household with calm older pets. However, if his new adopter continues to learn and help her work on her littermate syndrome, the sibling pair might be more friendly housemates, but would thrive best with a home that has a generous amount of land and lots of activity to keep her mentally and physically active. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Charli, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
