My story

CORN ON THE COB - 1-5 years old, 50 pounds, nervous meeting new people, nervous with body handling until he's comfortable, *adopter will need to continue muzzle training and work with vet on fear free protocol for vet visits* CORN ON THE COB arrived at VBACAC as a stray.  *This little pocket size bully is more than adorable even though someone did a number on his poor ears which are barely there now.  *He has a short wonky tail with two bends/breaks in it.  *His sad expression gives a look into his soul, that which is sad, scared, and now in a frightening place. This came out in his distrust of us in the beginning but we are now starting to see a boy who is learning to trust us. *We are able to leash him up, careful not to move too quickly nor handle him too much. That will take time. He will need time getting used to everything new, home, routine, family.  *Introductions to new people must be proper and in time, not right away. There is no need to push these dogs as they are being put in unfamiliar situations with unfamiliar people. Give them time. Give Corny time. *Corny is letting down the walls though. I saw a different dog when we were outside in the shelter playgroup. He was smiling, socializing with the other dogs and people. He was running around and seemingly really enjoying himself.  *For now, an adult home might be best as he has to again navigate his way in a new environment and get accustomed to everything around him. *Corny is showing himself to be a real leaner, lover when he knows you. *Corny is working on his muzzle training for vet visits and he's nervous when it comes to restraint/body handling, but he is catching on to muzzle training quickly! Because of his quirky behaviors, we are looking for a special placement for Corny to be vetted by our behavior team and/or management. Corny is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 29, 2025, 6:16 pm
