My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Fluke is a wonderfully gentle and affectionate Pyr who has mastered the art of being the perfect walking companion. This happy soul walks beautifully on leash and approaches people with serene composure, earning him frequent compliments about his calm demeanor. He is overall a low-energy guy, enjoying the occasional burst of playful energy with his canine foster siblings. Fluke's true passion lies in meeting new people and soaking up affection wherever he goes—he's discovered that soccer games are prime spots for getting extra love from fans of all ages! His sweet nature shines through his love of being petted, hugged, and brushed, and he'll occasionally offer the gentlest Pyr Paw to show his appreciation. This loving boy thrives on companionship and would be happiest with a family who is home more often than not, or willing to include him in their leisurely adventures. Fluke gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and has been great with the children (ages 11 and 14) in his foster home. He even enjoys the uncoordinated pets and hugs of the visiting 4-year-old! He's learned to respect house rules, staying off furniture even when his foster siblings are allowed up, and barks less than typical Pyrs. After successful surgery to correct inverted eyelashes that had caused years of irritation, Fluke is now comfortable and pain-free in his new life. The ideal home for Fluke would provide regular companionship—whether human or canine—along with daily walks where he can people-watch and receive the adoration he so clearly deserves. He needs a 5-foot fence for outdoor time and would do best with separate feeding from other pups as he's protective of his food. If you're looking for a mellow, well-mannered companion who will gaze into your eyes with pure love and appreciation, Fluke is ready to be your loyal shadow and the highlight of every neighborhood stroll. The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our Adoption Application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. &#226&#128&#168Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. June 13, 2025, 6:25 pm
