Meet Virginia Woof! This caramel-colored beauty arrived at BARCS as a shy stray, but she has blossomed in foster care into a gentle, affectionate, and delightfully goofy companion. Her foster family feels just as lucky to have her as she is to have them. “Virginia really seems to be the full package pup,” her foster mom says. “She is house trained, dog-friendly, and even does well when left home alone. She walks beautifully on leash, is food motivated, and already knows sit!”At just two years old, Virginia strikes the perfect balance between puppy playfulness and grown-up manners. She loves to entertain herself with toys, chase after birds in the yard, and occasionally surprise her foster family with silly antics—whether it’s “hunting” spiders in the house or collecting emotional support socks. She makes her people laugh every single day. When Virginia first came home, she used her crate as a safe space, decompressing quietly while she adjusted. Over time, her confidence has bloomed and her bubbly personality has come shining through. She still has a sensitive side, but with a little patience and encouragement, she shows just how resilient and endearing she really is.Her foster family has been especially impressed with her communication skills. Without being taught, Virginia figured out how to tell them when she needs to go out—sometimes even gently batting at the door to signal it’s time for a potty break. Combined with her excellent house manners, this makes her an “easy” dog to live with and a joy to care for.Though Virginia can be shy in new situations, she is intuitive, adaptable, and always willing to try. Each time she braves something new—whether crossing a wobbly bridge on a hike or quietly tolerating bath time—her confidence grows a little more. She truly wants to please and looks to her people for reassurance as she learns.Virginia loves deeply and shows her affection in sweet, heart-melting ways. She’ll nuzzle into your lap, wrap her paws around you for a hug, or settle in for quiet cuddles and kisses. She’s content to snooze at your side after a walk, but don’t be surprised when she suddenly zooms around the yard with a burst of joy. Her little underbite only adds to her charm, sometimes catching her lips in the cutest pout. She does well with gentle, respectful dogs and would likely enjoy a calm canine friend. Cats, however, are a little too tempting for her curious nature, so a cat-free home will
