Who is giving pittie in the face, lab in the body, short in the legs and best-friend in presence? Lucky Bones! He has a short set of legs with a huggable, snuggle-up size, and the gentlest approach to literally everything in life. Lucky Bones, Bones for short, weighs 46 lbs and is estimated to be about 2 years old but given he is a rescue his age and breed are details we cannot guarantee. As for breed, we see a black lab body, pittie features in the face and a set of legs that are just 1/4 shorter than you might expect from the rest of his looks. The epitome of why we say rescue is our favorite breed because that is 100% a one-of-a-kind boy! One thing we can say with confidence is that he is easy-going good company in the way that would be hard not to love. Bones isn’t the type to pull you towards a group of strangers trying to get free-pets, he is a social introvert. Great with strangers and welcoming of the affection but perfectly content passing groups of people without so much as a glance for attention. Personally, my favorite kind of dog! Anytime he has met someone new the consistent first comment is about how polite he is. He will sit right at their feet, calmly and attentively but with no demand or sense of urgency. His eyes say- Ill be right here when you’re ready. We have never seen him jump on anyone and pushy is just not in his makeup. Even his approach to kisses is as polite as it comes- he doesn’t rush the first kiss but when its time it is a gentle, single peck. No messy, slobbery kisses from Bones, just clean and delicate little smooches. This boy has been so fortunate and is being fostered in a loving home where he has shown great house-manners, proven he is fully house and crate trained, and a quiet companion. His foster lives in an apartment and thanks to his quiet nature, size and great leash skills, Bones is definitely a great candidate for apartment life. Bones is a regular at the doggie classes held at our main office, most frequently one called Fancy Footwork where they practice leash training and obedience skills alongside 10-15 other dogs and their handlers. We love seeing Bones in class, he is a Grade A student and a great example for other handlers because he is attentive and responsive to commands and new exercises. Currently Bones is living as an only-dog and he has no complaints. When introduced to other dogs he consistently has show an aloof approach to new friends, giving a nice to meet you approach and a see you later wander away all in the same moment. Another area where he is a bit of a social introvert. If he was a person her would be the type that will come to the party but would have been just as happy alone at home. When introduced to our house-cat he was very polite and gentle in his approach. It didn’t take long before our wilding of a cat “attacked” Bones ( see a short bit of it in his video above.) And like a gentleman bones retreated and then gave a respectfully cautious amount of space to the cat. From what we have been we consider Bones cat-tolerant and with the right cat we could see him being a great companion. He has the cutest face, a calming presence, with a taste for the simple pleasures. A car ride by your side, a nice morning walk, a cozy bed and a few sweet kisses. We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
