My story

Shena pupdate from foster: “ Shena pics. She’s a very good girl! Crate trained, house broken, already mastered the doggy door, knows how to sit, recall is great. Just working on a little bit of house manners but nothing extreme. Went on a hike today and the farmer’s market. Great at both locations (let out one warning bark but calmed down quickly). No issues meeting strangers, even met a little kid today. ” Shena for short is arriving next week from Texas. We pulled her from a list of longer residents. This lady has been waiting for a home for over 300 days! Shenandoah’s journey hasn’t been easy. Rescued from a cruelty case nearly a year ago, she was found chained to a tree trunk, severely malnourished, and struggling to survive. Despite her past, this now-chunky lady has held onto her sweet, playful spirit and is ready to start her next chapter with a loving family. She loves treats (especially chicken nuggets!), enjoys the outdoors, and thrives in an active home with space for zoomies. She also seems to be potty trained and loves to cuddle! She’s great with dogs and people. She’s patient, social, and non-reactive to other dogs, kids, and strangers. During an outing at UTEP, she greeted everyone calmly and soaked up all the love. Shenandoah also knows sit, walks well after an initial burst of excitement, and is very treat-motivated. She LOVES toys and playing in the kiddie pool. Shenandoah needs a family that will understand her past and help her continue to heal. After enduring a life of hardship, followed by almost 300 days in a shelter kennel, Shenandoah deserves some rest and kindness. She is about 5 years old, weighs 75 pounds, and is already spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated.
