My story

DOB: March 21st, 2024 Kismet is a social, confident and energetic cat. He loves attention more than life itself. If it was up to him, you would be playing with him from morning to night. Unlike most cats, he spends minimal time sleeping during the day, opting to play instead. He loves every kind of toy imaginable - string, various catnip pouches, foam balls, lasers, kicker toys - you name it. His favourite at the moment is a set of catnip-filled, stuffed toy sushi. He spends hours swatting them around his foster home. Kismet is looking for a family with an existing, friendly and energetic cat to match his energy. Unfortunately, his high need for constant stimulation cannot be fulfilled by a human alone. It is likely that Kismet found himself on the streets competing for food as he has moderate to high food insecurity. He will get "activated" when you start making dinner, and repeatedly jump up on the kitchen counter in the hopes of securing a tasty snack. When you eat dinner, he will likely try to steal your food. He requires a patient human who will calmly place him on the floor every time he jumps up on the counter or dining table. Yelling at Kismet is not effective as he doesn't understand why you're upset. He cannot be free-fed. He requires his meals to be on a schedule, strictly portioned and served in a food puzzle. In addition to his playful nature, Kismet is quite affectionate. He genuinely enjoys being held. As long as you're supporting both his front and back legs, he will relax in your arms and start purring. Nine times out of ten my arms get tired before he's done cuddling. If you've been looking for a kitty who likes being carried around, this is your guy. Kismet has learned how to fetch and sit. He loves chasing little stuffed toys, and has started bringing them back after you throw them. It's a great way to tire him out! He's very food motivated and it took about 10 treats to teach him "sit". You could probably teach him "spin" or "lie down" relatively easily! Unsurprisingly, Kismet is a Chatty Cathy, and will talk to you throughout the day by either meowing or chirping softly. Kismet is very high energy and food insecure. He requires a home with an existing energetic cat, as well as a patient human who will be prepared to manage his food insecurity.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kismet, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
