My story

Meet Tillie - Army Crawl Expert Lover Say hello to Tillie, a 2.5-year-old French Bulldog sweetheart weighing in at 23 lbs with the most soulful eyes and a heart that just needs a little time to trust again. Medical Journey: Tillie joined the Freedom Squad from Long Beach Shelter and arrived with painful, swollen ears from an untreated infection. Thanks to daily medication, a round of antibiotics, and a steroid injection, she’s already feeling so much better—but she still has one more vet appointment to double-check those ears. Ongoing ear care will be essential to keep her comfy and healthy. Tillie is a gentle soul who’s still learning that humans can be kind. She may crouch low when approached but sit down on her level and she’ll army crawl right into your lap, quietly asking for some love and scratches. She buries her head into your lap and looks at you with her eyes so big the white part glows. Once she bonds with you, she becomes your shadow—and nothing makes her happier than zooming around the yard in the morning sunshine. Then she put the breaks on and pauses hard to look back to see if you are watching her show off her skills. She does well with other dogs on her terms. Tillie prefers calmer, more submissive companions and would thrive in a home with just one other respectful pup—or as the only queen of the castle. She’s had to defend herself before (it shows in her demeanor at times), so it takes her time to feel safe. Resource guarding around food while she is in her crate has shown up in her foster home, so we remind her that she doesn’t need to fight for love or meals anymore. Foster pupdate: This girl is a ball of life. When she first came in, she was a bit aggressive and would be in the mix trying to check the house pets. I have learned her demeanor pretty well and she does better with male dogs and submissive females. 333 rule was applied to her, and it has been successful. OMG this little lady is a doll we cuddle snuggle and she loves playing with Drift they are buddies but he is a puppy and plays a lot, so she has no issue putting him in his place. She is mostly potty trained and has to be on a schedule. Tillies’ ears are much better, she is a yeasty girl so keeping them clean is a must. We do feed her in her crate but overtime in a house with less dogs Tillie will adapt and she is very teachable, listening and understanding the rules. Bath time? No problem. Lap cuddles? Yes, please. Trust? That will take time, but once you’ve earned it, Tillie will love you with her whole heart. Ideal Home: Patient and experienced with shy or fearful dogs. Either a solo-dog home or with one calm, submissive dog. Willing to feed separately and respect her boundaries until she understands the schedule and other pets in the home. The adopter must be committed to continuing her journey of healing and trust, and work with her daily. Tillie has survived a rough start, but she’s ready to learn what love and safety truly feel like. If you’re the kind of person who believes in second chances and soulful connections, Tillie is waiting for you. Because every broken heart deserves to be whole again. Apply to adopt Tillie at freedomfrenchierescue.org, her adoption donation fee is $1050.00. She is vaccinated, microchipped, and spay. She does have one more vet appointment in a week. Currently fostered in Mesa, AZ.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tilly, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
