My story

Name: Choco Estimated Birthday: Breed: Labrador Mix Adoption Fee: $265 ***Available for adoption on June 7*** You will melt faster than a chocolate chip in a freshly baked cookie when you meet sweet Choco! This beautiful boy – with a rich, cocoa-colored coat and mocha latte eyes – is a 2-year old male Labrador Retriever. Choco was on the euthanasia list at an overcrowded county shelter before we stepped up to pull him. He will be available for adoption on June 7. He is house and crate trained. He’ll bark once or twice in the crate on occasion but settles quickly. Often, Choco will go to his crate on his own if it’s left open. In the morning, he may whine to let you know he needs to go out (think of him as a large alarm clock!). Choco is young and energetic, and is working on directing that enthusiasm into good manners. He’s confident and does well meeting new people but needs reminders to keep all four paws on the ground instead of jumping for joy! That said, he doesn’t require a fence of a specific height. Choco does seem to have had some previous basic training so that’s a great foundation to build upon. For example, he walks well on a leash and when he occasionally pulls, he can be easily redirected. And he catches on to new commands quickly when food is the reward! And if you are eating, he will beg for a bite but with a firm “no,” he will settle and lay beside you like the sweet boy he is. Choco does have what’s called “Happy Tail,” where vigorous wagging on hard surfaces can lead to tail injuries. While working on his training, you can encourage calm behavior and reward calm wagging to help prevent. In his current foster home, Choco pays little attention to other dogs and has yet to acknowledge the cat in the house! He has not been around children yet, and there are no signs of aggression. Are you ready to add some chocolate-covered happiness to your life? Apply for Choco today! Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Choco, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
