Kobe is a big-hearted boy with a soulful gaze and an even bigger desire to be near his people. At six years old, he's in the sweet spot between playful and chill-a loyal companion who's just as happy to adventure with you as he is to curl up at your side for a cuddle session. Kobe is incredibly smart and a quick learner who thrives on routine and connection. He's already mastered sit and shake and is working on stay and wait. He's food-motivated (and very food-excited!), which makes training fun-though he'll need continued work on recall and leash manners. While Kobe is potty trained and doing great in an apartment, he's still figuring out the doggie door. He'll sit by the door to let you know he needs out and hasn't marked indoors. He has had a couple of accidents during a brief illness, but otherwise has solid house manners and hasn't shown any destructive behavior when left alone. That said, Kobe loves being with his humans and would prefer to accompany you everywhere. He's not a fan of being left behind and will cry for a few minutes when you go, but he settles quickly. He's happiest near you, whether it's co-sleeping in bed or lounging on the couch. If you're not paying attention, he might gently paw at you-or let out a soft whine-to ask for pets and reassurance. Kobe enjoys long walks (up to an hour!) and may be a great hiking buddy with more conditioning. He's unbothered by loud or sudden noises, but he is cautious around things like footstools, vacuums, or other "suspicious" household items. He doesn't like being picked up or confined and is not a fan of crates or grooming activities like nail trims, ear cleaning, or baths. (We're working on that, with patience and vet guidance!) Kobe is currently underweight and transitioning to a duck-based diet to help manage his allergies. He's responding well to Apoquel and ear drops, and we're still learning what works best for him long-term. This sweet, affectionate guy bonds deeply with his people and will likely choose a "favorite" human in his forever family. He'll do best with someone patient, gentle, and willing to continue helping him build confidence and structure. In return, Kobe offers unconditional love, soulful snuggles, and the joy of watching a once-wary pup learn to trust again. Kobe's ideal home: · A family or person around often-he prefers not to be alone · No need for a crate-he's proven to be trustworthy in the home · A calm, patient household that can help him continue building confidence · Someone willing to keep working on training, diet, and gentle grooming care If you're looking for a smart, soulful boy to be your loyal sidekick, Kobe just might be your perfect match. I will be ready for adoption once I take care of a few things at the vet. Be on the lookout for my updates.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kobe Beefcake, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
