My story

Polo is a 3-year-old male who’s as sweet and easygoing as they come. Fully house-trained and not needing a crate, Polo has been a calm, respectful houseguest in his foster home. He can be left alone for hours without issue—he doesn’t disturb anything, and he doesn’t try to dart out the door when it’s opened. Inside the house, he’s relaxed and well-mannered, enjoying his time lounging around or quietly entertaining himself. While he may bark occasionally at outdoor noises like birds or people walking by, he’s overall a quiet and composed dog.Polo lives with small dogs in his foster home and gets along wonderfully with them. He’s gentle, neutral, and calm around other dogs and has also done well with medium to larger dogs. While he hasn’t been tested with cats, he has shown a very steady, balanced temperament. Polo loves kids of all ages and is always friendly when meeting new people. He’s the kind of dog who just wants to be near you, happy to stick close and soak up all the love and attention you’re willing to give.He already knows several commands including sit, stay, and down, and continues to pick up new ones quickly. His foster parent describes him as smart, sweet, and loving. He takes treats gently and is learning not to pull on leash. While he may show some food possessiveness, it`s never aggressive—more of a `better eat this before someone else does` mentality, and he’s easily managed with a little guidance. Even the resident 10-year-old Chihuahua, who is known for being selective, has warmed up to him.Polo is affectionate and mellow with a moderate energy level. He enjoys walks and playtime but is just as happy to relax and cuddle. He’s calm in the car, enjoys human company, and would make a great match for a wide variety of households—from a single person in an apartment to a family with other pets in a larger home. His foster says, “This dog seems to have come from a loving home. It makes me wonder what happened? He is such a good dog. I can’t imagine any situation he wouldn’t fit right into.” If you’re looking for a well-rounded, loyal companion who will bring joy and warmth to your life, Polo may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Polo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
