My story

Meet Piper, a 6-year-old Basset Hound mix who came to Big Dog Ranch from Alabama to find a fresh start and a loving home. Despite the challenges she's faced, this sweet girl has a gentle heart and a loving soul. Piper has spondylosis, a spinal condition that limits her mobility and makes being picked up uncomfortable. Because of this, she should be handled gently, and would do best in a home with older children who can respect her space and physical limitations. She has a low energy level, is housetrained, and walks nicely on a leash. Piper is also good with other dogs, making her a great companion for another calm canine. Her easygoing nature makes her a wonderful fit for first-time dog owners and seniors alike. She enjoys soft cuddles, leisurely strolls, and playing gently with toys. Piper would thrive in a quiet home—whether an apartment or house—where she can feel safe, loved, and understood.
