My story

Nella is a 2 year old Weimaraner/Lab mix with hazel eyes, rescued from the PG County Animal Shelter’s euthanasia list on Easter Sunday. Everyone who sees Nella exclaims “What a beautiful dog!” She’s very intelligent and knows the command ‘sit,’ walks well on leash, and is extremely treat motivated. Nella is house trained AND crate trained. Nella has a strong desire to be with people, from shelter staff to her foster family. She gets along well with 2 small children in her foster home and does well with other dogs. This girl was the star of doggie playgroup at the shelter and loves to play like an overgrown puppy! She loves squeaky toys and sticks (classic dog!) and will retrieve and return tennis balls, running joyful bonus laps. When relaxing, she likes to lean on you or put her paws on you to feel close. Nella is spayed and about 45lbs. She’s alert and attentive, with bunny ears up and tail wagging. We think Nella would be happy in a variety of homes but especially active homes with or without kids, whether fetching outside, jogging with you, or doing a daily ‘zoomie’ indoors! She also loves couch time, being pet or getting a belly rub- as long as it’s with YOU! Nella is already a great family dog. Now she just needs her forever family.
