My story

Hi! I’m Opal and I'm a terrier-lab mix with super-soft brownish-black fur born in approximately mid January 2025. I stand out because of my white chest and adorable white knee-high front paws. I have the cutest ears that frame my sweet face. My brother and I are currently living in a busy foster home that has one older foster puppy, a mama dog and her new babies, and two adult resident dogs. I love being part of everything!!! Sometimes I run into my crate when it is time to play outside but that is only because Minnesota can be cold. However, once I get out there and let the sun warm me, I play for hours. When I first got here, I watched the older dogs playing but now I jump right in! When I’m not outside I love to snooze on a cozy bed or on a human’s lap. There are lots of laps to choose from here, too, as my foster parents have three elementary-aged kids. My parents say I am on the “low” side of  medium energy, which I think means I love being held. I am working on potty training - I always go on a pad if I am indoors but I do not even need to if I am kept on a schedule. I just started walking on a leash and my parents say I picked it up in record time! I have not met any cats but I have done well with all sizes of dogs. I stay in a crate at night and when my family is away and I do great.
