Meet Andy – Your New Best Toy-Loving Buddy! Age: 4 years Weight: 65 lbs If you're looking for a sweet, playful, and good-natured companion, Andy might just be your perfect match! This lovable 4-year-old pup has a heart as big as his toy collection (which he’s very proud of). Whether it's a stuffy, a tennis ball, or a sturdy chew toy – Andy is all in. In fact, he’ll happily choose his favorite and proudly carry it around, so be ready with a high-value treat if you need to make a trade! Andy is fairly easygoing once out of the kennel. He may pull a bit on leash at first, especially if something interesting catches his eye (squirrels and chipmunks, beware!), but he settles nicely and walks calmly with time. He’s treat and toy motivated and already knows “sit” – making him a fun and trainable pup for someone willing to keep engaging his clever mind. He’s been great in the car – hopped in all on his own and enjoyed a mix of window time and laying down with his toys. He does get a little curious about what’s happening in the front seat or trunk, so we recommend using a seatbelt harness or crate for safety. Andy is a joy in private or quiet settings – affectionate, attentive, and quick to warm up. In busier environments like parks or arboretums, he may be a bit more timid and clingy at first, but he still shows a genuine interest in meeting people and being loved. He recently had a bath and was a champ about it (even with some skin stuff going on – likely treatable with some TLC and vet care). We haven’t seen Andy interact closely with other dogs yet, so we’re still learning about his dog social skills. Whether he’s zooming around a SniffSpot, sunning himself after a car ride, or gently chewing the face off a Gumby toy (true story), Andy is a mix of goofball energy and gentle sweetness that will make a wonderful addition to the right home. Is Andy tugging at your heart? Come meet him and see why this lovable boy deserves a home of his own! As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Andy , please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
