Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Colby finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). Ever so cute in caramel, 4-year-old Colby adjusted easily to life in his foster home. At a tiny 10 pounds, he loves cuddling and sitting close to his foster mom, although he’s not necessarily a lap dog, and contentedly resting his head on her. Famous for showing off his “beg” trick and dancing on his hind legs, Colby’s version of a canine “high 5,” he’s more comfortable now around the two larger resident dogs and recently welcomed a new female foster with a warmly wagging tail. As much as he loves going for walks, Colby hasn’t yet worked on “heel” with his foster mom, and he does best with other dogs once they’ve been slowly introduced to each other. While he seems disinterested in toys at the moment, he’s definitely motivated by food and love, knows “come,” “sit,” “no” and “off,” is learning to accept treats gently and to not jump up on people. Crate trained (treats, of course, work wonders) and almost fully house-trained, Colby’s ideal home is one with older children and patient adopters who will perfect his manners, continue his socialization and complete his training, including his commands, in exchange for a loving lifetime of “high 5’s.” If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! May 18, 2025, 7:51 pm
