My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:5Meet Charles Barkley — no, not the basketball legend, but this 2-year-old, 69-pound German Shepherd mix does have All-Star energy, MVP-level smarts, and a whole lot of heart. Charles is that high-octane teammate who’s always ready to run drills (aka fetch), learn new plays (sit, down, and paw are already in his playbook), and snuggle it out during halftime. He’s sharp, snuggly, and seriously into squeaky toys. Fair warning: Charles has big feelings about fences and leashes. He can be vocal and needs leash manners refresher course, but with a consistent coach and a little room to breathe, he’ll rise like the all-star he is. Best suited for: • A solo-dog household or one with a well-matched dog friend • Guardians who can offer mental workouts AND physical exercise • Someone ready to laugh at his goofy antics and cheer on his progress Charles is ready to trade the bench for your backyard.
