My story

Please contact Chandler Jaffe (chandler.jaffe@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Young boy ISO happily ever after! RIGGINS NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!     Name:   Riggins         Best Guess for Breed: Lab and terrier mix    Best Guess for Age:  7 months as of September 2025          SEX:   Male   Estimated Weight:   43 lbs as of 8/10/25 - he is still growing.  Gets Along With:   Riggins is great with other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.    Currently Living at:    DC area boarding partner - Riggins would love a foster home while he's waiting for his forever family. All about Riggins: Riggins came into our care with his littermate Roo and their mama Kanga. Kanga and Roo have been adopted, and Riggins is awaiting his turn. He is a fantastic young pup. Here's what his previous foster and volunteers said about him: His foster: He is dog friendly, curious, and confident—he happily goes up and down stairs and loves to hop over rocks and snuffle in bushes. He's a smart and food-motivated guy; he sits well, and quickly learned to sit and wait when his leash goes on or it's time for dinner. He likes to chew and crunch; this health icon has tried and enjoyed carrot sticks, cucumber, green beans, and bell pepper. He'll be so much fun to train and will reward you with snuggles and looks of adoration.  He is good in his crate and naps and sleeps overnight in his crate. He has learned that 'go in' means to go into his crate. Out on walks, he was confident and eager from his earliest puppy days - he looks on with interest when bikers, scooters, and trucks pass by and isn't afraid to climb up and down steps/rocks/low walls.  Volunteers who have walked him: He is so enthusiastic about life and has the makings of a good city dog! He does well in both city and quieter park settings. And he's good in the car too! He's encountered urban wildlife while on leash and was curious but did not lunge at them. City noises, people pushing strollers, other on-leash dogs - he does well with all of them! He also met unleashed dogs at an event while he was on leash and happily made friends with them.  While being walked, he regularly turns his head around to look at the human at the other end of the leash to express his adoration about you - and also everything he just experienced in the past several seconds or minutes. But especially you. Oh, and add blueberries to the list of healthy food he likes! Riggins is overall a fantastic young dog - open, friendly, smart, eager to please, and so ready to learn. He'll be a loving, loyal companion for all his days. His family and he will be so lucky to have each other.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
