My story

You know that cute happy dog song, the one that goes: "oh, just happy, happy, happy guy. Oh, just a look at a happy, oh the happy dog." That is hands down Happy Feet aka Archie to a T. From the first few seconds after meeting him, you instantly know your day is about to get a whole lot better. When I tell you this boy instantly made my day and was immediately asking for my affection and from everyone else in the room, giving up his belly for belly rubs, and was a little ray of sunshine for everyone...it's true. Don't believe me?! Watch his video and you'll see for yourself how incredibly happy he is all the time and how he instantly brightens everyone's day: https://youtu.be/Ntr_hZ95SN8?si=xp8rSzdQZccpnyuC Happy Feet is a pittie lab mix approximately 9 months old and currently weights 65 lbs. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. We do know that he has some of the best ears out there and some of the cutest head tilts ever! He's one of those dogs that you don't have to try hard at all to get him to do those cute head tilts or perk up those amazing floppy ears of his. One thing you need to know about Happy Feet is his love for people. Oh my heck does he love people! If you watched his video then you saw just how comfortable and happy he was with every single person, even a stranger that just walked through the door. He quite literally met Jodi in that exact moment and he was a already in love with her and wanted to spread his love and happiness with her as well. Pretty safe to say that the word stranger danger does not apply for Happy Archie. If you are someone that likes to have friends over or take their dog places like your local brewery, park, patio restaurants, we can see him being a great companion to do all of that with. He's going to greet every person he meets with happy tail wags and kisses and might even hold their arms or legs with his paw too if they let him LOL. Truly, we cannot express how happy Happy Feet Archie really is. Happy's friendliness and happiness even extends towards other dogs. We gave him the name "Happy Feet" not just because he has a happy personality but because of what he does with his paw when he's playing with other dogs. You may know what we're talking about if you've watched his video, but he does the cutest paw hop like moves with his feet. It's absolutely adorable; but back to dog interaction business. Happy Feet is very dog friendly and does great with so many types of dogs and has even walked into a living room with at least 5 different dogs that he has never met before and did wonderful with them all. He has also been in playgroups with upwards of 15 dogs and easily makes friends with them all. He has been around high energy dogs, dominant males, submissive dogs, calm dogs, scared/shutdown dogs and does great with them all! He will play with the dogs that want to play and loves to romp around in the yard with them and he's also respectful around dogs that aren't interested in playing. He is really good about matching the energy. He's the best of both worlds, he'll play but he will also relax and enjoy those calm hangout moments too. In a home he would be best paired with a medium energy dog that enjoys playing but also appreciates those hangout moments too. If you don't have any other dogs, Happy Feet will be totally fine being your one and only fur baby too. He does not need the company of another dog to help him feel comfortable and open up. He's a happy social butterfly all on his own. When it comes to kitty friends, he would do best in a kitty free home. Happy Feet will not only impress you with his easy going and happy approach to everything, but he will also impress you with how smart he is. This boy loves treats and will do anything for a treat and ultimately will do anything to make you happy. He already know how to sit, lay down, understands the concept of fetch (he doesn't bring back the ball or stuffy every single time), walks fairly decent on leash, and is crate trained and potty trained. What more can you ask for?! He's the total package, and checks off all the boxes! Happy Feet seems to be a very adaptable fun boy that has the potential to thrive in a lot of different home environments. We believe he has the potential to do well in an apartment as long as his energy needs are fulfilled. That can be anything from a walk/light run around the neighborhood, trip to the park, play session with some toys, training session to get that mind working, or even an interactive puzzle game as well. He is a snuggly guy as well and snuggled up on the couch with me while for a good amount of time while I was chatting with the gals and while one of them was cleaning out a closet. He does settle and will lay with you for however long you want him too, he'll just need some form of mental or physical activity prior. We do believe he would thrive the most in a home with a back yard. He enjoys being outside, loves romping around with all his doggy friends, and exploring all the smells. He would do great with a semi-active family that likes to go on adventures, hit those scenic trails that you have saved on the map, and a family looking for a companion that can be both active and snuggly. We also believe that he would make a great companion for a family with kids. We have not seen him with kids just yet and we can absolutely test that for you. Just based off what we already know and how much he loves people, we believe he will feel the same with tiny humans as well. We are willing to test Happy Feet Archie with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience! The adoption fee is $825 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship! We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
