My story

*** To alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has the Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. These animals are not located in any of the Society`s physical locations. If you are interested in adopting this animal, please do NOT click the Adopt Me button and instead reach out to the current owner directly via the email provided in the profile. As this is a Home-to-Home animal you are not required to fill out an Anti-Cruelty Society adoption application form. *** Our dog Drake is a male, purebred silver lab. Weight: 100 lbs Age: 6 Heartworm status and meds: Heartworm, flea, and tick are up to date. We have been trying to figure out the best medication for his seasonal allergies. He has gotten two shots of Cytopoint (2 in last two months) so far and also is taking VF omega3 pills, as well as canine enteric support for digestive health, and VF Antronex for liver health. Behavioral issues: He listens to me (husband) but doesn`t really listen to my wife. When he was a puppy, I began training him and was on a great routine/training path. That same regime was not really followed by others. Others would take him for walks or watch him and he was allowed to do things that are now issues, especially with a toddler at home and one on the way. We have moved a few times since getting him which hasn`t helped and he had to stay with my parents for a period of time which also doesn`t help. With our work schedules, a toddler, and other family stuff we have going on, it is difficult to maintain a consistent training schedule to try and get him back on track. Not making excuses, it`s just the reality of our situation. He is house-broken and understands commands. Good with other dogs? Isn`t bad with other dogs but can be anxious around other dogs at first until he warms up to them. That being said, he has never bitten another animal nor showed aggression towards other animals (or humans), just a little anxious. He lived with my parents and their dog for 4 months and got along great after the first couple days of warming up to each other. Good with kids? We have a 2 year old and he doesn`t really acknowledge her but as she is getting older and starting to move and explore more, I have concerns about her running into his bed which he doesn`t like other people in. He also doesn`t realize his size and when he jumps and barks out the window when s

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Drake, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
