My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:16Meet Velveeta: Smooth, Melty, and Best Served Solo At 2 years old and 58 lbs, Velveeta is a sweet and affectionate shepherd mix who’s basically a big block of emotional cheese—soft, comforting, and always ready to melt into your lap. She’s a total lovebug with her humans, craving closeness and reassurance, and she’ll happily sit by your side for pets and snacks (she does know “sit” and takes treats like a lady). Velveeta recently went on a field trip and showed off her easygoing leash skills and calm, steady trot—she might just be your next jogging buddy. She was a bit nervous in the car and in new environments, but she was polite and curious with everyone she met, including small kids on bikes and roller skaters. She gave kisses when praised and tolerated gentle handling like a champ. Dogs, though? Not really her jam. Velveeta gets anxious around other pups and would do best as your one-and-only while she builds confidence. She’s moderate energy, easy to handle, and oh-so-worth the extra TLC.
