Sage Rose

My story

Sage is a happy girl with a big personality and even bigger heart. Despite being a bit underweight right now, she’s full of life—waggy, goofy, and always ready to make you smile. She loves people, gives kisses freely, and already knows “sit” and “paw.” Be warned: Sage is very excited about treats—she'll catch them midair like a pro! She walks well on leash, enjoys attention, and is crate-trained and housebroken. Though she's currently being monitored for her weight and appetite, she’s otherwise bright, alert, and eager to please. Sage would thrive in a home with space to run and play, and with people who can match her joyful energy. With a little TLC, Sage is sure to blossom into your best pal. I was able to visualize & palpate rib cage, no fat covering- could somewhat palpate pelvic bone. Thin waist/abdomen, minimal loss of muscle on hind end and cranium, front/hind limbs still have visible muscle mass. BCS 2.5/3, opted to not begin refeeding plan ATT. Sage is an owner surrender so starvation seems unlikely cause to poor body condition, as other dog in home/surrendered has an ideal BCS. Ravenous eating in kennel noted when returning. Put on patient for vet check to consider diagnostics or to make available +/- waiver. Behavior notes: Sage was easy to leash, moderately pulled but not overly strong. In exam room, she was very friendly and goofy, medium to high energy, allowed all handling. Gave kisses and some nibbles on my hands. Sat nicely for treats, knows sit and paw, VERY snappy for treats (threw them in air). Returned to kennel well-- had a bowl of food in kennel when she went back in & honed in on it immediately, I wasn't able to break her concentration to remove leash but i loosened it from above & pulled it away after it dropped from her neck. I didn't reach for the bowl but I did touch her minimally while eating & she showed no tense body language or obvious guarding. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
