My story

This pretty kitty is Sophie. She is a 9-year-old tabby with calico patches (tabico) and weighs 9 lb. Sophie is at a foster home, not at our shelter. She spent most of her life with a retired man in a peaceful, adult-only home, and she seems most comfortable in that kind of slow, steady environment. Sophie is not one to soak up attention all day, but she’s deeply bonded to her person and will happily settle in nearby, especially if there’s a window to look out. Sophie is very vocal and will talk to you throughout the day, especially when she’s feeling affectionate or wants company. She doesn’t like other cats, and we’re not sure how she’d do with dogs or children, but she truly thrives when it’s just her and her human. She’s snuggly on her terms—when she wants closeness, she really melts into it. Sophie is healthy, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. She has lived indoors her whole life, though she seems fascinated by the outside world. With the right person, she might even enjoy safe outdoor time—maybe on a harness or in a stroller. Sophie would do best in a calm home with someone who can appreciate her pace, her independence, and her love for quiet companionship. If you’re looking for a cat who doesn’t need much but gives a lot once she trusts you, Sophie might be the one. As a senior cat, her adoption fee is only $75.
