My story

Meet Caius!Caius is a 2 year old Chihuahua long-haired mix. He has been with his foster since May 1st, who says Caius is a diamond in the rough. He was living with over 40 dogs and puppies in a very small trailer before being rescued by Saving Hope. He loves to play with other dogs and prefers going outside to do his business, although he’s getting better at using puppy pads inside. He gets anxious during car rides and has just started walking with a harness. He’s recovering from neuter surgery and takes 3-5 days to feel safe around people. He also prefers older children. He doesn’t like a crate, but accepts an x-pen. After he was neutered, he relaxed and accepted a dog bed near his foster`s bed where he could see her. He loves playing with two dogs twice his size and another chihuahua mix. Now that he’s healing, he loves zooming inside the house and will love running in the yard. He’s discovered toys and snacks, but he has a sensitive stomach and food changes need to be introduced slowly, and he should not get any people food. He gets a half-chew bone after breakfast. Since being with his foster he has started to gain weight and looks very healthy. He is now weighs 12 pounds. The foster`s current foster dogs and a dog she adopted are all severe neglect or abuse survivors with rough behaviors that need gentle shaping, but they bond strongly and have wonderful personalities. Caius is a beautiful long-haired dog that needs brushing several times a week. He doesn’t like baths but cooperates. Caius is ready for his forever home. He needs another dog in the home, as he needs puppy companionship. To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt.
