Foster Update: "Elmer is now about 95% potty trained. He occasionally has a pee accident, but never poop. I think it's because he gets so excited playing and will grow out of this. He is 100% crate trained. He sleeps in his crate every night for up to eight hours without making a peep.He also loves to play in his crate, which is an extra large size. (I put him in that size when he got here because he was wearing a cone.) He stays in his crate when I have to go to the store, etc. I don't leave him for more than a couple of hours at a time. Elmer is super friendly and extremely happy. He loves both people and dogs and wants to interact with both. He has not once shown an ounce of aggression towards us or the other dogs. He will make someone a perfect companion." Meet Elmer! Elmer is a sweet, smart, and playful pup who’s quickly settled into his foster home. In just a few days, he’s proven himself to be a total lovebug who adores everyone he meets! While he hasn’t met any children yet, his loving and gentle nature suggests he would be a wonderful family companion. Elmer gets along great with his foster siblings. He’s respectful of the older, more grumpy senior dog in the home—Elmer understands when it's time to back off and is learning doggy manners like a champ. He sleeps peacefully through the night in the living room with his dog friends and is working hard on his potty training. Elmer is making daily progress, but he’ll need a family willing to continue guiding him with patience and consistency. He’s also getting comfortable with crate time and will happily relax or play with his toys inside. Elmer has lots of energy and loves to play! While he’s currently on restricted activity while he heals from his neuter, it’s clear he’ll thrive in an active home where he can enjoy daily walks, playtime, and adventures. He would love a family who’s always on the go or kids who will toss a ball and help burn off his puppy enthusiasm. Elmer doesn’t bark much and responds well when redirected. He’s quickly become a happy, relaxed member of his foster home and is ready to bring that same joy to his forever family. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and loyal companion, Elmer is your guy!
