My story

Emailed responses often end up in spam folders!  Say hello to Lunex, a lively little boy with a big personality and the tiniest, cutest squeak you’ve ever heard! That’s right—Lunex doesn’t meow like other kittens. Instead, he squeaks, chirps, and chatters his way through the day, keeping everyone around him smiling and entertained. Lunex is a ball of boundless energy. He loves to run, jump, play, and zoom around. Whether he’s chasing a feather toy, leaping for a string, or pouncing on a crinkly ball, Lunex gives it his all—until he crashes into a cozy nap, usually right in the middle of the action. He’s also a big fan of catnip, which sends him into silly, happy zoomies, and he absolutely adores playing with his brother. The two of them are a dynamic duo—wrestling, tumbling, and chasing each other.  Lunex is not just about energy, though—he’s got a sweet side too. He loves to squeak/chatter back at you if you talk to him. He’s curious, friendly, and loves being part of the action, whether that’s exploring new toys or sprawling out on his back for a “cat nap”. Lunex is healthy, vaccinated, microchipped, and will be neutered in a few weeks. He’d be happiest in a home where he can get lots of playtime, attention, and ideally, stay with or be paired with a friend/future sibling.  Ready to add a little rocket-fueled joy and adorable squeaks to your life? Come meet Lunex—your heart might just squeak with happiness too! Lunex is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, he is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!  Foster-to-Adopt Program Details We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted. Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption. Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed. Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.  Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.  Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $135.  Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative. Complete Application.  https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/ Phone Interview/Vet Check. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats.
