My story

Dawn’s story began in a neighborhood in El Paso, Texas, where the stray dog population was overwhelming, and sadly, some people were intentionally harming these vulnerable animals. When we heard about the heartbreaking loss of numerous dogs in the area, we knew we had to act. We hit the road to meet Dawn and bring her to safety. When we finally met Dawn, her timid eyes and cautious demeanor spoke volumes about the hardships she had faced. We gently loaded her and a few of her companions into the car and set off on the long road back to Arizona, knowing we were giving her a second chance at life. This one year old Doberman mix is shy and reserved, but beneath her hesitation is a heart full of hope. Since arriving, Dawn has had professional training, completing a 5-week Board + Train to help her build confidence and trust. She has made amazing progress and continues to impress us with how much she has learned. While she takes things slowly, each moment of progress reveals more of her gentle spirit and quiet resilience. Dawn is now ready to find a loving, patient home where she can feel safe and grow at her own pace. She is especially bonded to one of the dogs she came in with, Delta, and our hope is to find them a home together. However, we are open to placing them separately if the perfect family comes along for each of them.
