*** Tabby Tom is at Cat & Craft in Vista. ***Tabby Tom #19689: brown/black tabby, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 4/1/19Cats: good solo or can co-existDogs: unknownChildren: older cat-savvy kidsBACKGROUND: Tabby Tom was left behind when his guardian moved; a Good Samaritan took him in temporarily but was at the maximum number of cats allowed by her landlord. She reached out to The Rescue House to ask if we could help him find a loving home.PERSONALITY: This calm-natured cuddlebug just wants a lap! And pets! And attention! Tabby Tom likes being around people and has the cutest chirp when he’s following you around trying to convince you to sit down so he can immediately jump in your lap so you can give him pets and scritches (or brushes… he likes to be brushed). He likes his fuzzy beds, but he likes your lap better. While Tom prefers not to be picked up or carried, as he wants to have his paws under his own control, you’ll get plenty of snuggle time as well as close companionship in those times he’s in the same room but not in your lap; he doesn’t like to be alone too much. He’s a people-focused kitty who thus far hasn’t been very interested in toys and is content to lounge and cuddle… though a lickable Churu-type treat will get him very excited!COMPATIBILITY: While in general Tabby Tom doesn’t mind other cats and mostly ignores their presence, he doesn’t want to cuddle with them or share human attention, and he can sometimes get jealous if another cat is getting that attention and he’s not. If there are multiple cats it’s good to have multiple humans—also because he’d love to have someone around most of the time. We don’t fully know his thoughts on dogs: he has heard the dog in his foster home and hasn’t seemed alarmed, but they have not had any interaction. He would likely be fine with older cat-savvy children who aren’t grabby.Tabby Tom is a dream come true for the person who wants close contact and plenty of laptime with their kitty.
